FAQ: The Airhook: Give Your Airline Seat A Comfort Upgrade

Will The Airhook support the Surface Pro 3? How about an iPad Air 2?

YES! Due to popular demand we have adjusted our design to allow for tablets up to 8 inches tall (previously 7.5), which means your device can be used in the horizontal position - but not vertically. Please note, your Surface Pro 3 is just under 8 inches wide and may need to be removed from its protective case, once in-flight, for best use with The Airhook. What is the maximum thickness for The Airhook’s device support?

There is a current max width of just under one inch (20mm to be exact). The cases that we found to be too large were the childproof, thick silicone cases, or those with additional carrying compartments on their backside. In those scenarios, the case may have to be removed once in-flight for best use with The Airhook. Last updated: Thu, Jun 25 2015 2:52 pm EDT

Some airline give you the can of soda, will The Airhook hold a can?

The current design does not support holding cans or cylindrical bottles. During the design phase we looked at incorporating this into the first retail version and were unable. We concluded the components needed to fully secure movement would require an additional tool for manufacturing and we’d need to raise a lot more money. Then, The Airhook got funded in 73 hours and everything changed! So we added a stretch goal to accommodate this request - if we hit it, you’ll get it all for no added cost to you! Please help us get there by sharing The Airhook (see ‘Help Us Connect’ section) with the travelers in your life :) Thank you all for the support and suggestions! From the video it looks like you can adjust the angle of the cup holder, but not the device. Is this correct?

The Airhook was designed with the person reclining in front of you in mind. Thus, the adjustment knob was added to the design to add for enough compensation to be able to bring the liquid [in your cup] back to level. The device angle moves slightly, but not at the same rate as your cup. After additional testing post the Kickstarter video, we decided to make The Airhook slightly longer in the rear. This will allow your device to sit further away from the seat in-front of you and will provide greater viewing adjustability. Please stay tuned for additional videos to help show the elongated version and adjustment capabilities. Last updated: Thu, Jun 25 2015 3:08 pm EDT

Is there a place to rest headphones or earbuds?

ALMOST! Due to incredible demand for this feature, we added this as our first stretch goal! We are already so very close to hitting it. Please help us get there by sharing The Airhook (see ‘Help Us Connect’ section) with the travelers in your life :) Thank you all for making this feature request loud-n-clear! Can I use The Airhook during takeoff and landing?

Our design and testing team has successfully used The Airhook during many takeoffs and landings, however, it is important to always follow your flight attendant’s direction. In some circumstances, The Airhook may only be allowed during approved use of your tray table. We recommend waiting to attach your device until you’ve reached 10,000 feet. Is The Airhook going to work with seats that have built-in entertainment screens?

Yup! The Airhook will work just fine with airline seats that have entertainment systems built-in. All The Airhook needs is a tray table to do its thing! Last updated: Thu, Jun 25 2015 3:08 pm EDT

Will this work in an Exit Row or in First Class?

Unfortunately, no. The Airhook’s system is designed around using the tray table of the seat in-front of you as an anchor. Without this anchor, there is nothing to support The Airhook and it can not be used. Last updated: Thu, Jun 25 2015 3:08 pm EDT

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
